We have another beautiful sunny day in Calgary, Alberta. One of the 333 sunny days we enjoy each and every year.

Prairie cities are at the top of the list of Canadian cities with the most sunshine. In fact, Calgary is the sunniest of Canada’s large cities, with an average of 2396 hours of bright sun each year, spread over 333 days. Just over half of Calgary’s daylight hours are sunny…the energy of the future today.

Calgary receives an average of 4.7 peak sun hours per day over the year. We also have warm winter chinook winds to melt accumulated snow and clean our PV modules. Solar modules actually make more power at lower temperatures to take advantage of Calgary’s sunny winters.

Calgary has more PV potential than Germany which is a world than Germany which is a world leader in Solar deployment.

Major cities worldwide City Yearly PV potential (kWh/kW)

The price of installing a Solar PV Utility Interactive power system has never been lower and the cost of electricity has never been higher.

The answer is………..NOT ANYMORE

If you are purchasing your energy for 8 cents per kilowatt hour, the actual delivered cost of your electrical energy is 12 to 13 cents per kilowatt when you factor in the variable and fixed charges on your electricity statement and the prices are anticipated to further increase.

Is Solar power affordable?

By having a Solar PV Utility Interactive power system installed, you are locking in the price of your power over the 25-35 year life of the system. The price of your solar power will remain as consistent and dependable as the sun shining. Based on Calgary’s solar potential of 1292 kWhrs per kilowatt of installed solar, a 6.24 kW system, for example, could produce 672 kWhr each month or 8064 kWhr per year and 282,242 kWhrs over the 35 year lifecycle. At $3.20 per Watt installed, the 6.24 kW system would cost $19,905.00 and could produce $36,691.00 over the 35 year life cycle (7.1 cents per kWhr) or $26,208.00 (13 cents per kWhr) over a 25 year lifecycle.

Why wait for new technology?

As a Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) with 18 years of experience and certified NABCEP PV professional installer we are abreast of new and promising technologies along with proven and tested equipment designed for maximum energy harvest. The balance of system integration allows for the most efficient energy harvest, system longevity and quicker return on investment. The advancements in making the system more efficient and reportable has far outweighed the small percentage increase in solar power output. The cost of the PV has never been lower but is just part of an efficient solar PV system.

Why Buy from Greenergy ?

As a Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) and certified NABCEP PV professional installer we can make your Solar PV installation a smooth and enjoyable experience. Our Master electrician will provide all electrical Permits, circuits and circuit breakers required for a successful installation and favorable approvals.

What to buy and how?

We can provide fully installed solar PV grid Interactive systems designed and approved for our climate and location.

Our proven systems include micro-generation application and document preparation as well as all required permits. Our installations are typically completed in 1-2 weeks with electrical permit approvals. It generally takes another 3-4 weeks for the wire owner to replace your existing electrical meter with a bi-directional electrical meter to allow for exporting excess solar energy to the utility grid. Exporting your excess solar energy through a bi- directional meter is called net metering and you get paid what you pay your retailer per kWh.

Our energy costs are expected to go up from 8 cents per kWh to 10 cents per kWh, that’s a 25% increase in one year. Plus variable costs such as distribution and transportation adds another 4 cents per kWh to the value of the solar energy generated. For example, if your electrical consumption was 800 kWh per month and you generated 400 kWh per month with your solar system, the net would be 400 kWh per month and you only pay variable costs only on the net amount.

Our systems with micro-inverters provide the most efficient, reliable and safest installation on residential applications and meets the latest code requirements. Each PV module has its’ own inverter and operates independently from the other PV modules and inverters which minimizes shading effect and maximizes energy harvest. Further, using the micro-inverters eliminates the need for high voltage DC wiring to string inverters. Each PV module and inverter would be locally monitored and a virtual display of your array is available for viewing on your telephone or the internet.

Larger PV Systems over 7.5 kW and battery based systems can be provided with string inverters, upon request. We can customize configurations to meet your specific requirements.

We look forward to answering your questions and working with you.
